Welcome to Meridian Skills Academy Ltd (“MerSkills”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of the MerSkills website, learning services, programmes, applications, enrolment services, educational content and related services.
By accessing our website, submitting an application, enrolling in a programme, making a payment, or otherwise using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our website or services.
1. About Meridian Skills Academy
Meridian Skills Academy Ltd (“Meridian Skills Academy” or “MerSkills”) is a Nigerian-registered professional training and continuing education institution.
MerSkills provides professional education, skills development, training and lifelong learning opportunities through structured programmes, courses and related educational services.
Our programmes may be delivered online, in person, through blended learning, or through other delivery arrangements, as specified for the particular programme.
2. Eligibility
You must provide accurate and complete information when applying for or enrolling in a MerSkills programme.
Unless a particular programme states otherwise, learners should meet the minimum age, educational, professional or technical requirements specified for that programme.
Where a programme has specific admission requirements, MerSkills reserves the right to assess applications and determine eligibility.
Admission to one programme does not automatically guarantee admission to another programme.
3. Website Use
You agree to use the MerSkills website lawfully and responsibly.
You must not:
- Use the website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or accounts.
- Interfere with the operation or security of the website.
- Introduce malicious software, viruses or other harmful code.
- Copy, reproduce or redistribute website content without permission.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with MerSkills.
- Use our services in a manner that could damage MerSkills, its learners, instructors or partners.
We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access where we reasonably believe that these Terms have been violated.
4. Programmes and Course Information
MerSkills makes reasonable efforts to ensure that programme descriptions, course information, schedules, fees and other information published on the website are accurate and current.
However, programme content, instructors, schedules, delivery arrangements, assessment methods and other academic details may occasionally change.
We reserve the right to make reasonable changes where necessary to:
- Improve educational quality;
- Reflect developments in professional practice or technology;
- Correct errors;
- Accommodate instructor or operational changes; or
- Comply with applicable requirements.
Where a material change substantially affects an enrolled learner’s programme, MerSkills will make reasonable efforts to communicate the change.
5. Applications and Admission
Submitting an application does not necessarily constitute admission.
An application may be reviewed before admission is confirmed.
MerSkills may request additional information or documentation where necessary to verify an applicant’s eligibility.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all information submitted during the application process is truthful, accurate and complete.
Providing false, misleading or fraudulent information may result in rejection of an application or withdrawal of admission.
6. Enrolment
A learner becomes formally enrolled when MerSkills confirms the learner’s admission and the applicable enrolment requirements have been satisfied.
Where tuition payment is required before enrolment, access to programme materials or learning platforms may depend on confirmation of payment.
Admission and enrolment are subject to the requirements published for the relevant programme.
7. Tuition and Fees
Programme fees are stated on the relevant programme or payment page.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, learners are responsible for all applicable tuition, registration, assessment, examination, certification or other charges associated with their chosen programme.
Fees may vary between programmes and may change for future cohorts.
A fee applicable to a confirmed enrolment will generally remain applicable to that enrolment unless otherwise communicated.
8. Payments
Payments must be made through the payment methods officially provided or approved by MerSkills.
You should retain evidence of payment until your payment has been confirmed.
MerSkills is not responsible for losses resulting from payments made through unofficial channels, fraudulent intermediaries or individuals falsely claiming to represent the Academy.
If you believe that a payment has not been correctly credited to your account, you should contact MerSkills promptly and provide the relevant payment evidence.
9. Payment Plans
Where MerSkills offers a payment plan for a particular programme, the applicable payment schedule will be communicated to the learner.
Learners are responsible for meeting the agreed payment deadlines.
Failure to meet a required payment may result in temporary suspension of access to learning resources or other programme services until the outstanding amount is resolved.
10. Cancellation and Refund
MerSkills recognises that circumstances may arise in which a learner is unable to continue a programme.
Refund eligibility, where applicable, will be determined according to the refund terms communicated for the specific programme or cohort.
Unless a programme-specific refund policy states otherwise, fees relating to services already delivered, assessments already undertaken, digital resources already supplied or administrative services already provided may not be refundable.
Where a refund is approved, the applicable amount will normally be returned using the original payment method where reasonably practicable.
Payment processing charges, transaction charges or other non-recoverable third-party charges may be deducted where applicable.
MerSkills reserves the right to establish programme-specific refund and cancellation policies.
11. Programme Withdrawal
A learner who wishes to withdraw from a programme should notify MerSkills through the official communication channel provided by the Academy.
Withdrawal does not automatically create an entitlement to a refund.
Where a learner stops participating without formally notifying MerSkills, the learner may remain subject to applicable payment obligations.
12. Deferral and Transfer
Where permitted for a particular programme, a learner may request to defer participation to a future cohort or transfer to another programme.
Approval is not automatic and may depend on:
- Programme availability;
- The learner’s academic progress;
- Outstanding fees;
- Administrative requirements; and
- The specific policies applicable to the programme.
Any applicable administrative or transfer fee will be communicated before approval.
13. Learning Platform and Third-Party Services
MerSkills may use third-party technology platforms and services to support learning, communication, payments, assessments, video conferencing, file storage or other educational activities.
These services may include learning management systems, payment processors, communication platforms and other technology providers.
Use of a third-party platform may also be subject to that provider’s own terms and privacy policies.
MerSkills will make reasonable efforts to maintain access to required learning systems but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of third-party services.
14. Learner Accounts and Login Credentials
Where a programme requires a learner account, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.
You must not share your account credentials with another person or permit another person to access your learner account.
You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless you promptly notify MerSkills of unauthorised access.
MerSkills may suspend or restrict an account where there is evidence of misuse, unauthorised access or violation of these Terms.
15. Academic Participation and Assessment
Learners are expected to participate actively in their programmes and complete required learning activities, assessments and other academic requirements within the applicable deadlines.
Where a programme includes assessments, learners must comply with all assessment instructions and academic integrity requirements.
MerSkills may establish programme-specific requirements relating to:
- Attendance or participation;
- Assignments;
- Examinations;
- Projects;
- Practical activities;
- Assessment deadlines; and
- Completion requirements.
Failure to meet programme requirements may affect successful completion and certification.
16. Academic Integrity
MerSkills expects all learners to demonstrate honesty and integrity in their academic work.
Learners must not engage in:
- Plagiarism;
- Cheating;
- Fabrication or falsification of information;
- Impersonation;
- Unauthorised collaboration;
- Submission of another person’s work as their own;
- Unauthorised use of examination or assessment materials; or
- Any other form of academic misconduct.
Where academic misconduct is established, MerSkills may impose appropriate consequences, including reassessment, withholding of results, suspension or withdrawal from a programme.
17. Use of Artificial Intelligence
Where artificial intelligence tools are permitted in a programme, learners must use them responsibly and in accordance with the relevant programme’s academic requirements.
The use of AI does not remove a learner’s responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity and quality of submitted work.
Where a programme prohibits or restricts AI-assisted work, learners must comply with those requirements.
18. Certificates and Credentials
Learners who successfully satisfy the applicable programme requirements may receive the certificate or credential specified for the programme.
Completion of coursework alone does not necessarily guarantee certification where additional assessment or completion requirements apply.
MerSkills may withhold a certificate where:
- Required academic requirements have not been completed;
- Required assessments have not been successfully completed;
- Outstanding financial obligations remain; or
- Academic misconduct or other serious violations have been established.
Certificates and credentials must not be altered, falsified, reproduced for fraudulent purposes or misrepresented.
19. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the MerSkills website, branding, logos, text, graphics, course materials, videos, documents, presentations, assessments, software, educational resources and other content provided by MerSkills are owned by or licensed to MerSkills and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Enrolment in a programme gives a learner a limited, personal and non-transferable right to access educational materials for the purpose of participating in the relevant programme.
You must not, without prior written permission:
- Reproduce course materials for commercial purposes;
- Sell or redistribute learning materials;
- Upload proprietary course materials to public platforms;
- Share paid course content with non-enrolled persons;
- Remove copyright or ownership notices; or
- Create derivative commercial products from MerSkills materials.
20. Learner-Generated Content
Where learners submit assignments, projects, comments, testimonials or other content to MerSkills, the learner remains responsible for ensuring that the content does not infringe the rights of another person.
By submitting content through MerSkills systems, you grant MerSkills the right to store, process and use that content as reasonably necessary to provide, administer and assess the relevant educational service.
MerSkills will not ordinarily publish a learner’s private academic work publicly without an appropriate basis or permission.
21. Testimonials and Marketing
MerSkills may request permission to use learner testimonials, photographs, success stories or other feedback for promotional purposes.
Where specific consent is required, MerSkills will obtain that consent before using the relevant personal information for the stated promotional purpose.
Learners may decline such requests without affecting their academic standing.
22. Privacy and Personal Information
MerSkills may collect and process personal information necessary to provide educational and administrative services.
This may include information relating to applications, enrolment, payments, academic participation, assessments, certificates and communications.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with the MerSkills Privacy Policy and applicable data protection requirements.
For more information, please review our Privacy Policy.
23. Communications
By applying to or enrolling with MerSkills, you may receive communications relating to:
- Applications;
- Admissions;
- Enrolment;
- Programme schedules;
- Assessments;
- Payments;
- Certificates;
- Learning activities; and
- Other matters directly related to your participation.
Where applicable, you may also receive optional marketing communications, subject to applicable requirements and available preferences.
24. Learner Conduct
Learners are expected to treat instructors, staff, fellow learners, partners and members of the wider learning community with respect.
Unacceptable behaviour may include:
- Harassment;
- Threats;
- Bullying;
- Discrimination;
- Abusive or offensive conduct;
- Fraud;
- Deliberate disruption of learning activities;
- Unauthorised access to another person’s account; or
- Conduct that materially damages the reputation, safety or operation of MerSkills.
MerSkills may take appropriate action where such conduct occurs.
25. Website and Service Availability
We aim to maintain reliable access to our website and services.
However, we do not guarantee that the website, learning platforms or individual services will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
Temporary interruptions may occur because of maintenance, technical failures, internet connectivity problems, third-party service interruptions or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
26. Educational Disclaimer
MerSkills provides professional education and training designed to support learning and professional development.
Completion of a MerSkills programme does not guarantee employment, promotion, business success, admission to another institution, professional licensure or any specific financial outcome.
Learners are responsible for determining whether a particular programme meets the requirements of an employer, professional body, regulator, licensing authority or other institution.
Where a programme leads to a certificate issued by MerSkills, the certificate represents completion of the stated MerSkills programme requirements and should not be represented as a government licence, university degree or externally accredited qualification unless expressly stated and supported by the relevant authority.
27. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to websites, platforms or services operated by third parties.
These links may be provided for convenience or educational purposes.
MerSkills does not necessarily endorse or control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, terms or privacy practices.
You should review the applicable terms and policies of any third-party service you choose to use.
28. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, MerSkills will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from your use of the website or services.
This may include loss arising from:
- Temporary service interruption;
- Third-party platform failures;
- Internet or connectivity problems;
- Unauthorised access resulting from the learner’s failure to protect login credentials;
- Reliance on information provided for general educational purposes; or
- Events outside MerSkills’ reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
29. Force Majeure
MerSkills will not be responsible for failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
Such circumstances may include natural disasters, epidemics, government actions, civil unrest, infrastructure failures, widespread technological disruptions, power or telecommunications failures, or other events beyond reasonable control.
Where reasonably possible, MerSkills will take appropriate steps to minimise disruption to learners.
30. Suspension or Termination
MerSkills may suspend or terminate a learner’s access to services where the learner:
- Seriously breaches these Terms;
- Engages in academic misconduct;
- Provides fraudulent information;
- Fails to meet applicable financial obligations;
- Misuses learning systems;
- Engages in serious misconduct; or
- Uses MerSkills services unlawfully.
Where appropriate, MerSkills may provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue before termination.
Termination does not automatically extinguish obligations that arose before termination.
31. Changes to These Terms
MerSkills may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, operations, technology, legal requirements or institutional policies.
The updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
Where a change materially affects existing learners, MerSkills will make reasonable efforts to communicate the relevant change.
Your continued use of the website or services after updated Terms have been published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
32. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, subject to any mandatory legal provisions that may apply.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or the use of MerSkills services should, where reasonably possible, first be addressed through good-faith communication between the parties.
Where a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, it may be referred to the appropriate dispute-resolution mechanism or court with lawful jurisdiction.
33. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be interpreted or modified to the extent necessary to make it enforceable where legally permitted.
The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
34. No Waiver
A failure or delay by MerSkills to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce that provision in the future.
35. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with any programme-specific terms, policies, notices and agreements expressly incorporated by reference, constitute the agreement governing your use of the relevant MerSkills services.
Where a programme-specific policy conflicts with these general Terms, the programme-specific policy will apply to the extent of the conflict.
