Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: August 19, 2026

Our Commitment to Accessibility

Meridian Skills Academy (MerSkills) is committed to making professional education and digital learning as accessible and inclusive as reasonably possible.

We believe that learners should be able to access educational information, programme resources and online services regardless of disability, technology, device or individual learning needs.

We are working to improve the accessibility and usability of merskills.com and our digital learning environment and to make accessibility an ongoing part of how we develop our website, programmes and learner services.

Our Accessibility Goals

Our goal is to provide a digital experience that is:

  • Accessible to people with different abilities and needs.
  • Easy to navigate and understand.
  • Compatible with commonly used assistive technologies where reasonably practicable.
  • Usable across commonly used desktop and mobile devices.
  • Clear and consistent in its presentation and navigation.
  • Supportive of learners who may require reasonable accommodations.

We aim to consider accessibility throughout the development and improvement of our digital services rather than treating accessibility as a one-time project.

Website Accessibility

We aim to improve the accessibility of our website by considering recognised accessibility principles and practices, including those associated with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Where reasonably practicable, we aim to provide:

  • Clear headings and page structure.
  • Meaningful links and navigation.
  • Readable text and appropriate contrast.
  • Alternative text for meaningful images.
  • Keyboard-accessible website functions where technically practicable.
  • Clear labels for online forms.
  • Accessible digital content where reasonably practicable.
  • Consistent navigation and page layouts.
  • Appropriate text alternatives for non-text content.
  • Content that can be viewed across commonly used devices.

Accessibility can vary depending on the technology, browser, device, third-party service or content format being used.

Online Learning Accessibility

Because MerSkills provides online professional education, accessibility extends beyond the public website.

We aim to make our learning environment as accessible as reasonably practicable by considering accessibility in:

  • Online course materials;
  • Learning platforms;
  • Digital documents;
  • Video content;
  • Audio content;
  • Online assessments;
  • Presentations;
  • Learning activities; and
  • Learner communications.

Where practical, we aim to provide alternative formats or reasonable adjustments when a learner’s circumstances require them.

Video and Audio Content

Where reasonably practicable, MerSkills aims to improve the accessibility of multimedia learning materials.

Depending on the nature and purpose of the content, accessibility measures may include:

  • Captions or subtitles;
  • Transcripts;
  • Text-based explanations;
  • Accessible presentation materials; or
  • Alternative ways of accessing important information.

Because some content may be provided through third-party platforms or external services, accessibility features may vary.

Documents and Learning Materials

We aim to improve the accessibility of documents and digital learning resources used in our programmes.

Where reasonably practicable, we consider:

  • Clear document structure;
  • Descriptive headings;
  • Readable typography;
  • Appropriate use of colour;
  • Alternative text for meaningful images;
  • Accessible tables;
  • Clear links;
  • Logical reading order; and
  • Compatibility with assistive technologies.

Some older, externally supplied or third-party materials may not immediately meet all accessibility expectations. We will seek to improve such materials as reasonably practicable.

Assistive Technologies

We aim to support the use of commonly used assistive technologies, including screen readers, keyboard navigation, browser accessibility features, magnification tools and other accessibility tools.

However, compatibility may vary depending on the technology, browser, operating system, device and third-party platform being used.

If you experience difficulty accessing content using assistive technology, please contact us so that we can investigate the issue and consider an appropriate solution.

Reasonable Adjustments

MerSkills recognises that some learners may require reasonable adjustments to participate effectively in a programme.

Depending on the circumstances, reasonable adjustments may include:

  • Alternative formats of learning materials;
  • Additional time for certain activities where appropriate;
  • Accessible communication methods;
  • Alternative arrangements for particular learning activities;
  • Additional support with accessing digital resources; or
  • Other reasonable measures appropriate to the learner’s circumstances.

Requests will be considered individually, taking into account the nature of the programme, learning outcomes, assessment requirements, available resources and applicable requirements.

A reasonable adjustment should not fundamentally alter the essential learning outcomes or integrity of an assessment.

How to Request Accessibility Support

If you require accessibility support or an adjustment, please contact MerSkills as early as possible.

Requests may be sent to:

Email: info@merskills.com

Where appropriate, please provide information about:

  • The programme or service involved;
  • The accessibility barrier you are experiencing;
  • The type of support or adjustment you believe may help; and
  • Any relevant timing considerations.

You do not need to provide unnecessary personal information.

We may contact you to understand your needs and determine an appropriate response.

Accessibility of Third-Party Services

Some MerSkills services may depend on third-party platforms, including learning management systems, video-conferencing services, payment providers, embedded media services and other technology platforms.

MerSkills does not control the accessibility features of third-party services.

Where possible, we seek to use services that provide appropriate accessibility features and we encourage learners to review the accessibility information provided by those services.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of our website or digital learning environment may not be fully accessible to every user.

Potential limitations may arise from:

  • Older website content;
  • Third-party plugins;
  • Embedded content;
  • Third-party learning platforms;
  • Documents supplied by external sources;
  • Multimedia content;
  • Browser or device compatibility; or
  • Technical limitations beyond our reasonable control.

We do not intend these limitations to prevent learners from accessing essential educational information. Where an accessibility barrier is identified, we will consider reasonable ways of addressing it.

Accessibility Feedback

We welcome feedback from learners, applicants, visitors and other users who experience accessibility difficulties.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please tell us.

Your feedback can help us identify problems that may not be apparent through routine website testing.

  • Any alternative method that would have helped you access the information.

You are not required to provide unnecessary personal or sensitive information when submitting accessibility feedback.

Our Approach to Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process.

As MerSkills grows, we intend to continue improving the accessibility of our website, learning resources, technology and learner-support processes.

Our accessibility efforts may include:

  • Reviewing website content;
  • Improving document accessibility;
  • Improving multimedia accessibility;
  • Evaluating digital tools and platforms;
  • Addressing reported accessibility barriers;
  • Providing staff awareness and guidance;
  • Considering accessibility when developing new programmes; and
  • Improving learner-support procedures.

Accessibility Standards

MerSkills aims to consider recognised digital accessibility principles, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Where practical, we aim to work toward widely recognised accessibility practices appropriate to our website and digital learning environment.

We do not currently represent that every page, document, platform or third-party service used by MerSkills fully conforms to a particular WCAG level.

Accessibility and Privacy

When you contact us regarding accessibility, we may need to collect limited information to understand your request and provide appropriate support.

Any personal information provided for this purpose will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection requirements.

We encourage you to provide only the information reasonably necessary for us to respond to your request.

Changes to This Accessibility Statement

We may update this Accessibility Statement as our website, learning environment, accessibility practices or applicable requirements change.

The latest version will be published on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date.
