Recognising Your Learning and Achievement
At Meridian Skills Academy (MerSkills), our certificates recognise learners who successfully complete the requirements of our professional education programmes.
A MerSkills certificate represents participation, learning and achievement within the specific programme for which it is issued. We are committed to issuing credentials accurately and maintaining appropriate records of learner achievement.
What Is a MerSkills Certificate?
A MerSkills certificate is an institutional credential awarded to a learner who has successfully completed the applicable requirements of a MerSkills programme.
Depending on the programme, completion may require learners to:
- Complete the required learning activities;
- Meet applicable assessment requirements;
- Satisfy programme completion requirements; and
- Fulfil any other requirements specified for the programme.
The exact requirements are determined by the relevant programme.
Our Certificate Credentials
MerSkills may offer different types and levels of professional credentials as its programme portfolio develops.
Examples may include:
- Foundation Certificates
- Professional Certificates
- Advanced Professional Certificates
- Professional Diplomas
- Advanced Professional Diplomas
- Other programme-specific credentials
The credential awarded for a particular programme will always be stated on the relevant programme page and enrolment information.
Professional Certificate
Our professional certificate programmes are designed to recognise successful completion of structured professional learning in a specific area of study or skills development.
For example:
Professional Certificate in AI Folktale Story Creation and Digital Storytelling
The exact title printed on a certificate corresponds to the programme successfully completed by the learner.
What a MerSkills Certificate Represents
A MerSkills certificate confirms that the named learner has successfully met the applicable completion requirements for the stated MerSkills programme.
It may demonstrate:
- Completion of structured professional learning;
- Development of knowledge and practical skills;
- Successful fulfilment of applicable assessment requirements; and
- Achievement of the stated programme credential.
A certificate should always be considered in the context of the programme for which it was awarded.
Certificate Issuance
Certificates are issued to eligible learners after the applicable programme completion requirements have been verified.
Before a certificate is issued, MerSkills may verify relevant academic and administrative records, including:
- Learner identity;
- Programme enrolment;
- Assessment completion;
- Programme completion status; and
- Other applicable academic records.
Certificates will normally be issued using the learner’s officially recorded name.
Learners should ensure that their personal information is accurate before completing their programme.
Digital Certificates
Where digital certificates are provided, eligible learners may receive their certificate electronically through the designated delivery method.
Digital certificates may be provided in a format that allows learners to download, save and present their credential electronically.
Learners should retain their certificate securely for future professional or educational use.
Physical Certificates
Where physical certificates are available for a programme, applicable delivery arrangements will be communicated to eligible learners.
Availability, delivery options and associated charges may vary depending on the programme and learner location.
Certificate Verification
MerSkills may provide a certificate verification service to help organisations confirm the authenticity of credentials issued by the Academy.
Employers, institutions, professional organisations and other authorised parties may contact MerSkills through our official channels for verification enquiries.
Verification requests may require sufficient information to identify the credential while protecting the learner’s personal information.
Certificate Number and Records
Where applicable, MerSkills may assign a unique certificate number or other identifying reference to a credential.
Certificate information may be maintained in institutional academic records to support future verification.
Learners should keep their certificate and certificate reference information securely.
Certificate Accuracy
Learners are responsible for reviewing their personal information and notifying MerSkills promptly if they identify an error in a certificate.
Where an error is attributable to MerSkills, the Academy may correct and reissue the certificate as appropriate.
Requests for changes to a learner’s name or other personal information may require appropriate supporting documentation.
Replacement Certificates
A learner who loses or damages a certificate may request a replacement where the applicable programme and institutional records permit.
Replacement requests may be subject to verification and an applicable administrative fee.
MerSkills may determine the appropriate format and method of replacement issuance.
Certificate Integrity
MerSkills takes the integrity of its certificates seriously.
Learners must not:
- Alter a MerSkills certificate;
- Create a counterfeit certificate;
- Change the programme title or credential;
- Misrepresent the level of a credential;
- Use another person’s certificate as their own; or
- Present a certificate as evidence of a qualification that it does not represent.
Fraudulent use or alteration of a MerSkills credential may result in appropriate institutional action.
Revocation of a Certificate
MerSkills may review and, where appropriate, revoke or invalidate a certificate if it is subsequently established that the credential was obtained through:
- Academic misconduct;
- Fraud;
- Falsification of information;
- Impersonation;
- Misrepresentation; or
- Other serious violations of applicable institutional requirements.
Where a credential is revoked, MerSkills may update its academic records and communicate the status of the credential to appropriate parties where legitimately necessary.
Recognition and Use of Certificates
MerSkills certificates are institutional professional education credentials.
The acceptance of a certificate by an employer, university, professional body, regulator or other organisation depends on the requirements and policies of that organisation.
MerSkills does not guarantee that every certificate will be accepted for employment, admission, licensing, promotion, immigration, professional registration or any other specific purpose.
Learners should independently confirm any external requirements relevant to their intended use of a certificate.
Accreditation, Approval and Recognition
MerSkills will clearly identify any formal accreditation, approval, endorsement or external recognition that applies to a specific programme or credential.
A MerSkills certificate should not be represented as:
- A university degree;
- A government-issued qualification;
- A professional licence; or
- A credential awarded by another institution
unless the relevant status has been formally established and specifically stated.
MerSkills is committed to communicating the status of its programmes and credentials accurately.
Continuing Professional Development
Professional education does not end when a certificate is awarded.
Learners are encouraged to continue developing their knowledge and skills through further education, professional practice and lifelong learning.
A MerSkills certificate can form part of an individual’s broader professional-development journey.
